Effect of Grouser Height on the Tractive Performance of Single Grouser Shoe under Different Soil Moisture Contents in Clay Loam Terrain

The grouser height and soil conditions have a considerable influence on the tractive performance of single-track shoe. A bin-based research was conducted to assess shoe at different moisture contents clay loam soil. Eight (7.5, 12, 16.7, 21.5, 26.2, 30.7, 35.8, 38%) three heights (45, 55, 60 mm) were comprised during this study. parameters (thrust, running resistance, traction) determined by penetration test. sensor-based bin designed for tests, which included system (AC motor, loadcell, displacement sensor). test results revealed that cohesion decreased, adhesion increased after 16.7% content. Soil thrust lateral sides bottom before 16.7%, then decreased all but major decrease observed 45 mm height. motion resistance linearly more reduction 38% traction with rise in content, maximum It could be concluded an off-road tracked vehicle (crawler combine harvester) operated towards moderate content range (16.7–21.5%) under paddy better traction.
